Hey Joe Spotlight Case Studies
A few recent shoots, what we did, and what came out of them.
Dear Wanderlust
Café · Maui, Hawai'i
Dear Wanderlust wanted customer testimonials, but bringing a production crew to Maui for a small shoot didn't make much sense.
We spent about an hour at the café and talked to five customers between orders. All five happened to be there for the first time. The director ran the shoot remotely from Austin.

“Dear Wanderlust coffee is the best coffee I ever had.”
A few other moments from the shoot:
- “It's something I look forward to every day.”
- “I haven't seen anything else that quite compares.”
- “If you really drink coffee, you want espresso. I mean, it blows my mind.”

GolfShac
Indoor golf · Los Angeles
GolfShac already had members who loved the place. The problem was that nobody was usually there with a camera when they were talking about it.
We got six people on camera — members and the founder. From that, we pulled 24 usable soundbites and turned them into 13 finished clips.
The director ran the whole thing remotely.

“I love the people. I see these people more than I see my own family. Everybody's happy here.”
- “In the last couple of months I was probably a 15, 16 handicap. And now I'm like 10, 11.”
- “You have your house, your home, you have your work. A lot of people are missing that third place.”
- “As soon as you walk in, you take that deep breath and there's no pressure.”

My Gym Torrance
Children's gym · Torrance, California
We shot this one during My Gym's street fair.
Parents were coming and going, kids were running around, coaches were working and the owner was in the middle of all of it. We just filmed it as it was happening.
No studio. No set. No separate production day.
13 finished cuts · 15–60 seconds · parents, coaches and owner on camera
“She learned how to crawl from other children here.”
- “We live in an apartment. We don't have a backyard.”
- “Everybody has their own My Gym personality.”
- “I want them to feel the energy when they come in.”— the owner

Houston Media Conference
Conference · Houston, Texas · September 17–20, 2026
For Houston Media Conference, we set up on the conference floor and stayed there for all four days.
Speakers would come off a panel, sit down with us for a few minutes, and talk. The director was in Austin running the conversations remotely, and we were turning the footage around the same day.
By the end of the conference, nine people had gone on camera and we had delivered 39 finished clips.

How it works
The setup was basically the same for all four shoots.
We send a phone and gimbal to the location. Someone there puts it where it needs to go, and one of our directors runs the session remotely.
The person on camera talks to a real director. The footage records locally at full quality. Then we turn it into finished clips.
You don't need to fly a crew in, shut the place down, or build a whole production around getting a few good people on camera.
And the kit is yours to keep, so you can use it again.

We'll put together a simple plan for the shoot — who we'd want to talk to, how we'd run it, and what we think we can get out of it.
